English Theatre for Schools

Hoops of Iron offers English-language theatre productions for schools in France and Switzerland, with French surtitles and educational resources available.

Our school performances are designed to support language learning, cultural discovery, critical thinking, and student engagement through live theatre.

We believe that seeing a play in English allows students to experience the language in a living, emotional, and memorable way – beyond the classroom and beyond the textbook.

Current production

Shakespeare’s Macbeth

Our adaptation of Macbeth is particularly suited to students from age 13 and above.

Performed in English with French surtitles, the production allows students to access Shakespeare’s language while being supported by visual storytelling, staging, movement, and French surtitles.

The production can support several areas of study:

  1. English language and literature;
  2. Shakespeare and Elizabethan theatre;
  3. tragedy and the tragic hero;
  4. power, ambition, and moral responsibility;
  5. manipulation and authoritarianism;
  6. propaganda, disinformation, and media literacy;
  7. philosophy, ethics, and civic education;
  8. history, monarchy, succession, and legitimacy;
  9. psychology, guilt, trauma, and influence.
